Granted, the only thing I can say is this- if we could somehow reduce our dependence on Middle Eastern oil (i.e. reduce our dependence on oil period), how wonderful would be it to go before all the Middle Eastern nations and tell them bon soi, it's been nice knowin' ya, we're outta your hair and you kids behave yourselves.

Of course, we have a powerful Israeli lobby here, and they would really pressure us to keep fighting their side of it (and no, that doesn't make me anti-Semitic, that's just a fact). But honestly, screw that part of the world, we should be doing all we can to put us in a position where we don't have to worry about them anymore.

In the meantime, I have no problem with a few errant firebombs dropped from our planes by mistake....

I'm just saying, this crap has to stop. Dresden should never be a first option, but if that's what it takes, then so be it (and obviously I'm speaking metaphorically, I don't think actually bombing Dresden today would make any sense, though it might get the Germans to start paying attention to us)

We get the majority of our oil from Venezuala but I digress...

I wish we could reduce our dependence on oil but it is far far too ingrained in our culture. Our lifestyle would come to a screeching halt if we were to reduce our dependence on it.

Consider the following:

It takes oil to make roads, produce the fertilizers that help grow or food, make the shingles that roof our new Mcmansions.
It takes oil to make the gasoline that powers our SUV's, trucks and cars, make our heating oil, run our transportation systems.
It takes oil to create jet fuel that powers our airplanes, runs our utility companies that generates electricity for us.

Oil owns us. It's in our plastics. Every tangible good or service we utilize in this country can be tied directly or indirectly back to oil.

And we're going to reduce our dependence on this how???
